What is an addon domain?

An addon domain is a fully functional domain that can be created from within your control panel. Think of it as having multiple hosting packages all sharing the same control panel. You can give them email addresses, forwarders, and more the same way you do for your main domain on the account.

The addon domain will exist inside the public_html directory of your account with the folder name you choose for it upon creation.

For example, you may want mysalespage.co.za to point to mybusiness.co.za/mysales/. Addon domains must be registered domain names that you own and configured to point to your web site's servers.

To add a domain to your web site:

  1. Click on the Addon Domains button on the home page.
  2. Enter the domain name in the New Addon Domain field.
  3. Add the directory that the addon domain points to in the Username/directory name field.
  4. Enter the password for the domain in the Password field, if required.
  5. Click on the Add button.

Effectively, all addon domains share the space of your main account. So, if you have 1GB of webspace, and 5 addon domains, each domain could use up to 200MB space. Off cause, some sites may take up less space than others, but they all contribute to your accounts total web space usage
